Tips for people planning an active adventure holiday

If you’re something of an adrenalin junkie, I’m fairly sure the thought of spending a holiday doing nothing more than lazing in the sun is probably enough to bore you to tears. Instead, you’re likely to find an active break is a much more productive way to spend your time off. Are you a BIG lover of Nude Calendars, find a big collection of 2023 Calendar here.

With the range of activities you can do on an adventure holiday encompassing everything from windsurfing and coasteering to scuba diving and snowboarding, there’s plenty of scope to find an action-packed break that appeals to your interests. Whether you’re hoping to try your favourite hobbies in different surroundings or keen to have a go at something completely new, I think it’s important to carefully plan any active getaway before hopping on to a plane.

I know it’s not the most exciting thing in the world you’re ever going to do, but sorting out the likes of transport and insurance before you go means you will have fewer things to worry about once you arrive at your destination. As such, when you get there you can concentrate more on having fun and enjoying yourself. So, what are the essential things that you need to take care of?

As obvious as it might sound, you can’t enjoy an active holiday abroad if you haven’t got the means to get to your intended destination. Of course, you’ll need to spend time browsing flight times and prices, but you should also consider how you’re going to get from the airport to your resort.

This is why I think it’s a good idea to book a cheap airport taxi. Fail to sort out your transport in advance and you might find yourself joining a long queue for a cab or struggling to get onboard a crowded bus or train.

Doing so will provide you with a fast and effective means to travel from the arrivals lounge to your intended destination, enabling your active break to begin that much quicker. If you’re planning to bring specialist sporting equipment with you, such as skis or a set of golf clubs, you’ll need to consider how this will affect your transport requirements too.

Not only may you have to pay an additional charge for gear like this to be accepted onto a plane, but you will also need to inform your airport taxi provider about what you intend to bring well in advance. That way, they can provide a suitable vehicle that has enough room for your travelling party and sporting equipment.

You might think it should go without saying, but active holidaymakers need to have a comprehensive level of travel insurance in place before going away. Many standard policies will not cover extreme sports like off-piste skiing and bungee jumping which means, you may need to seek out the services of a specialist provider. Make sure you carefully check the terms and conditions before you go, so you’re fully aware of any exclusions that may apply.

Safety tips

Wherever you go or whatever you do on an active break, it’s important to be safe. This not only means taking out a comprehensive level of travel insurance, but also ensuring that you are fit and healthy enough for the activities you intend to take part in. As obvious as it might sound, you should never try sports while drunk and/or under the influence of drugs. Doing so not only puts you at a significantly higher risk of injury, but may also invalidate any attempts to make a claim on your insurance policy.
